Making art is to make choices; to make choices necessitates paying attention to children's inner selves as they assess which elements do and do not please them. Not only are they tuning in to themselves when they create art, but they are also expressing themselves by making an external representation of their internal world. In doing so, they are acting upon a healthy belief that what is inside of them is worthy of taking up space and being seen by others.”
